More than 4,900 alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends of the university made a difference in the lives of Susquehanna students over the past fiscal year.
Their commitment and service to Susquehanna and its success have continued to improve and strengthen the student experience in so many ways. They have made a tangible impact by raising funds, supporting research and internship opportunities, sponsoring athletics programs, helping students afford their study abroad experience, and donating their time and resources to support our students’ blossoming careers. By joining in our culture of philanthropy, they have made a difference.
To the individuals who support our students, we say thank you for believing in Susquehanna.
We invite you to view Susquehanna’s 2021–22 Honor Roll of Donors, which recognizes the donors and volunteers who paved the way for student success, opened doors to new growth and career opportunities, and gave rise to all Susquehanna students as they become thoughtful leaders, critical thinkers, and global citizens.
Throughout the 2021–22 Honor Roll of Donors, you will find donor stories and impact numbers that highlight the power of gifts and volunteerism. Gifts supported so many campus and programmatic initiatives, from important student scholarships and the Student Wellness Fund to vital experiential learning opportunities like internships, research, and study abroad programs. Donors supported every academic program, all of the university's NCAA varsity and club athletic teams, and countless student programs.
Donor support enhances the student experience at Susquehanna. Each year, the university's Celebrating Scholarship Luncheon celebrates this philanthropy and provides the opportunity for students to meet and thank the extraordinary people who support their pursuit of a Susquehanna education through their generous contributions to scholarships, academic programs and athletics.
This year’s luncheon featured remarks by President Jonathan Green, special student musical performances, and stories of gratitude from current student scholarship recipients.
John App made the first planned gift to the university in 1858 by donating the land on which Selinsgrove Hall would be built. Members of the John App Circle have expressed their commitment to Susquehanna through a very special and important form of financial support. These donors have named Susquehanna as the ultimate beneficiary of a planned gift. Such gifts might include a bequest or naming SU as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. In addition, charitable income gifts such as charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder unitrusts and charitable remainder annuity trusts also qualify for membership.
Thank you to our John App Circle members. You can see the full list of John App Circle Members here, and lean more about creating your own legacy here.
Thank you to the donors who believe in the future of a Susquehanna education. Because of them, we are able to provide our students with additional financial assistance through named scholarships. These scholarships were created to ensure student access to higher education and will support the education of future Susquehannans for generations to come.
We are grateful for the devotion of these donors and for their trust in Susquehanna’s mission.

Our highest giving designation, the Susquehanna Society, recognizes benefactors who have given a total of $1 million or more to the university during their lifetime.
The Susquehanna Society celebrates those individuals and foundations whose extraordinary philanthropy has sustained the university. Our community is grateful for their generosity, encouraged by their confidence and inspired by their example.
Since its founding in 1858, Susquehanna has relied on the support and commitment of countless individuals, foundations, organizations and corporations to help us advance the capacity and reputation of the school. Members of the Lifetime Giving Society have a profound impact on the university by supporting scholarships, lectures and faculty opportunities that shape the Susquehanna experience. We are grateful to this special group of benefactors whose cumulative lifetime giving has reached milestone levels between $100,000 and $999,999.
Alumni giving is the most tangible measure of satisfaction with Susquehanna. It's what prospective students, college ranking systems and financial supporters regard as a major indicator of the value a Susquehanna degree carries. We are grateful for this group of donors.
The President's Associates include The Gold Circle, honoring those who annually contribute $50,000 or more; The Silver Circle, distinguishing those who annually contribute $25,000 to $49,999; and The Bronze Circle, recognizing those who contribute $10,000 to $24,999 annually.
The Benjamin Kurtz Society, named in honor of Susquehanna's founder and first president, honors those who annually contribute $1,000 to $9,999. We appreciate these donors and are grateful for the impact their generosity has on Susquehanna students.
The founding of Susquehanna University in 1858 created a philanthropic movement in Central Pennsylvania. Members of the 1858 Society collectively provide resources to enhance the Susquehanna experience for every student. From research opportunities and internships to passports for students in study away programs, gifts of all sizes have a tangible effect on our students' experiences. We appreciate these donors who have contributed $1 to $999 during the past fiscal year.
The Susquehanna Loyalty Society celebrates consecutive giving of three or more years to the Susquehanna University Fund. Annual giving donors who support the university year after year are recognized for their loyal participation. Among this category are exceptional donors who have for 10+ and 25+ consecutive years. We appreciate this group of benefactors for their longstanding, loyal commitment to Susquehanna University.
Thank you to the alumni, parents, faculty, staff members, friends and neighbors who support Susquehanna. Your generosity has created transformational opportunities for our students through the endowments you have established to create life-changing experiences, thought-provoking lectures and much-needed scholarship aid. Your capital investments have provided space for innovation, collaborative learning and research. Your estate and legacy gifts will ensure a bright future for the university and our students. Susquehanna is excelling because of your support.
If you would like to continue that good work, and wish to join your peers in philanthropy, please consider making a gift to the university today.
