Susquehanna University's Alumni Board functions to bring the alumni community together, supporting both individual and collective needs through shared experiences, while providing a platform for communication and information sharing among other alumni members and university leadership. The board also serves as a conduit between the alumni community and current and prospective students, with a main priority to ensure that students are able to enjoy the same academic experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth that generations of Susquehanna alumni enjoyed during their own time on campus. Successful students become successful graduates and, in turn, make our alumni community strong, diverse and vibrant.
Additionally, the Alumni Board regularly supports university events like Homecoming-Reunion Weekend, Break Through, webinars, regional networking events and OneSU, Susquehanna's annual day of giving.

Fellow alumni,
In an era that has become dominated by Zoom meetings and conference calls, it feels nice to sit down and write you this letter.
My name is Matt Curran ’92, and I serve on Susquehanna’s Alumni Board. I reach out to you today in an effort to communicate the board’s purpose within our Susquehanna community. Let me begin with who we are. Our board leadership is comprised of Kyle Robertson ’11, president, Jamie Malachowski ’09 Hindman, first vice president, and Valerie Bastek ’06, second vice president. The collective experience of our membership spans more than 40 years, with members having graduated in class years ranging from 1974 to 2017. These members provide invaluable input and perspective, and participate on two key taskforce groups: Alumni Engagement, chaired by Jacob Trevino ’02, and Student-Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy, chaired by myself.
Whether you are a Crusader or River Hawk, were an athlete or “NARP,” participated in Greek life or remained independent, majored in business or music, or so on and so forth, we are all Susquehanna alumni. The board functions to bring our alumni community together, supporting both individual and collective needs through shared experiences, while providing you a platform for communication and information sharing among other alumni members and university leadership.
Additionally, the Alumni Board is a conduit between the alumni community and current and prospective students. One of our main priorities is to ensure that students are able to enjoy the same academic experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth that we enjoyed during our own time on campus. Successful students become successful graduates and, in turn, make our alumni community strong, diverse and vibrant. We can all contribute to student success by donating our time, talent and expertise during Break Through, offering internship and research opportunities, and supporting the university through our philanthropic efforts.
Thank you to those who already support both our and Susquehanna’s missions, and also to those of you who will do so soon. We appreciate your efforts in providing students with profound experiences, and helping to cultivate memories that will last a lifetime.
I hope to see you out and about, proudly wearing your Orange and Maroon, soon. Take care, friends!
Best wishes,
Matt Curran ’92
